Measured first
Every opening, outlet, and daylight path is recorded before a finish is chosen.
Home improvements
From the first measured sketch to the last wipe of the threshold, Butlington improves the rooms you use every day. Kitchens, baths, color, floors, and outdoor rooms are planned as one calm sequence, with a written scope and a finish you can live with.

Dust stays in one zone. Wet work dries before trim and paint return to the room.
Storage, light, and walking paths are designed around weekdays, not only photographs.
About the studio
Home improvement is the patient work of making a house fit the people in it. A kitchen that cannot hold a school morning, a bath that fogs the mirror, a stair that announces every step — these are practical problems, and they deserve practical drawings.
Butlington brings design, carpentry, and finish work under one outline. You see the materials, the order of trades, and the parts of the house that will stay untouched. The goal is a room that feels settled on the first ordinary Tuesday after we leave.
Service & care
We stay with the work from the first email through the punch list. If a hinge needs a second visit, it is written down, not waved off.
Our ServicesWhat we improve
Six ways we reshape a house. Each one can stand alone, or they can be sequenced so the home stays usable while work moves from room to room.
New cabinets, counters, light, and a layout that survives a busy morning without sacrificing a place to sit.

Service details →Prep that respects trim, color plans that flatter older wood, and sheens chosen for real wear.
Service details →Wood, tile, and stair work that reads as one path from the door to the landing.
Service details →Decks, patios, and shaded dining bays detailed for drainage, shade, and quiet evenings.
Service details →A joined plan for paint, floors, lighting, and storage so the house feels like one decision.
Service details →Why households stay with us
Good improvement work is mostly invisible discipline. The visible part is a room that is easier to keep and kinder at the end of the day.
People on the work
A small group that designs, sequences, and finishes. You will know who is leading the room.
Turns weekday habits into plans for kitchens, baths, and the halls between them.
Keeps the sequence honest so one trade is not waiting on a finish that is still wet.
Chooses sheen, grain, and metal that still look right after a year of ordinary use.

Field notes
Short accounts from recent improvements. They are about decisions, not slogans.
We borrowed depth from a closet, kept the window, and gave the cook a seat that does not block the fridge.

The mirror stopped fogging because ventilation was drawn with the tile, not added as an afterthought.

Timber, paving, and planting were drawn together so the walk to the door feels finished, not leftover.

How a visit works
We begin with the room as it is used on a weekday. You walk us through what sticks, what is tired, and what must stay. We measure openings, note light at the time of day you actually occupy the room, and list finishes that can remain.
The written outline that follows names the scope, the materials we would specify, and the order of work so dust stays in one zone. If the outline is right, scheduling happens by email. If it is not, we revise it before anyone orders a cabinet.
